  • Dinner 'til Dusk (2) – 25th July

Sunday 25th of July will see the second Dinner ’til Dusk event at The Allotment. Utilising much of the same course as the last time (but with an all new, much less brutal, main climb) the event will run from 14:00 until 17:00 with the course open for practice from 13:00.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the event it is a mini- enduro. Each solo rider or team aims to do as many laps of the course as they can in the three hours with prizes awarded for the riders who have given the most ‘beans’ during the event, whether through determination, enthusiasm or by helping to generate a great atmosphere.

While it is helpful to know in advance who is and isn’t coming (to build the essential culture of teasing and abuse) it is fine to come along on the day with no warning and no teammates!

The event is suitable for anyone: downhillers, social XC riders, stag dos, corporate team building groups, nuns, pirates…….

  • Warminster Wobble – 19th & 20th June 2010

The Warminster Wobble is a local cycling event which takes place over two days in National Bike Week. Last year brought the first edition of the Wobble with great success and long may it continue!

Make sure the Wobble is in your diary so you don’t miss out on all the fun! This year they’re bringing you more competitions, more prizes, more things to see and more rides.

Have a look at the MTB Challenge Trophy course (it looks great) below, reckon you’ve got enough beans to win?!?!!

Check out the website for more information and details on this year’s event and a chance to look back on last year’s great weekend…

  • Warminster Wobble 2010

After the success of last years inaugural event the team behind the Warminster Wobble are thrilled to be able to offer another weekend of cycling fun.

With three organised rides and lots of attractions there should be something for everyone. Held over the 19th and 20th of June there’ll be a Mountain bike ride in the local woods led by experienced MTB guides, a Road ride down the beautiful Wylye valley and finally a Buggy ride for those with trailers and bike seats with a stop for a picnic.

Check out their website for full details: http://www.warminsterwobble.co.uk/

  • Set2Rise 2010

So who’d up for it again this year? (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SPAM SITE IS SHOWING SOME INCORRECT INFO AT THE MOMENT REGARDING DISTANCES)

Our friends SPAM Biking have made this one of THE enduro events on the Enduro race calendar, and we can’t wait to take part again…

last year we had a cracking time, came 8th/33 Male team, and 2nd/5 and 5th/5 in the mixed team category:  https://www.blackcanoncollective.co.uk/2009/05/27/endurance/

With a team pit that was bigger than even the Charge Team (and their media crew) the atmosphere was great, especially when Marjory started setting fire to stuff and the keg had settled.

Check out the forum here: http://www.southerndownhill.com/forum/index.php/topic,215978.0.html to get involved and be part of one of our teams (or even go solo).

  • 2010 BCC Calendar

Now I might have left this a bit too late, but… I hope to put together a 2010 Black Canon Collective Calendar which will be ready in time for Christmas! The calendar will be sold for a reasonable sum to raise funds for some of the projects which we are working on (skills area and Groovy Blue trail). Now we are dealing with a very short time scale and I need pictures FAST! I want the calendar to show all the different aspects of bike riding (XC, DH, Velodrome, cobble wobble) digging, racing or general ride related faffing that BCC members get themselves into. The only rule is that the photo must be of a BCC member and it must be of sufficient quality to be printed on A5, but the rest is up to you. To have any hope of this project working, I need YOU to get all your best photos and upload them onto the Black Canon Collective Flickr account before Sunday 15th November.

    http://www.flickr.com/groups/blackcanoncollective/pool/

A select panel of judges will then select the finest 12 photos for the Calendar.

If you have any questions please e mail me on simon.truelove@blackcanoncollective.co.uk
