“…it’s all about dropping your wrists…”

“…it’s all about dropping your wrists…”

The BCC Ride Leader Training course is in full swing, two days of learning done and one day of assessment left to go. We’re all learning loads thanks to Seamus and Steve our CTC trainers, but also thanks to some pretty fantastic tips from Geraint about climbing. Ask him next time you see him, it’s soon to be the standard BCC body position for any form of off road climbing, and you heard it hear first!

Communication

Communication

Communicating with our members is really important and enabling our members to communicate with each other is very important too. Over the next few weeks there’ll be a few changes made to how we achieve each.
Along with our existing projects, we’re working on a new club forum that’ll be part of this site, a frequent newsletter that’ll [...]

Ride Leader Training is go!

We’re thrilled to confirm that the BCC is training up 11 of its members as Ride Leaders.
After 40 hrs of training, held over 4 1/2 days, the candidates will be CTC qualified MTB Trail Leaders carrying the ITC Outdoor Activity First Aid certificate also.
Being able to provide professional quality guided rides will help stimulate the local MTB [...]

Night Rider

The BCC Tuesday Night Rider is as popular as ever, same old formula, but with enough trails to keep it fresh. The -0 deg C helped too…

Why not take some time to do a bit of seasonal maintenance so that your local trails are running sweet for the summer?

BCC Mini Enduro

BCC Mini Enduro

Fancy racing riding around the allotment, and surrounding area, on a mini BCC enduro pre Set 2 Rise ?
Ian Crook came up with the idea as a kind of XC enduro TickerTape equivalent; basically it’s a low-fi, members only, mini enduro race event with apple strudel Mule Bars to give away. At this stage that’s all we’ve got, but [...]

On the money…

This month’s Dirt Magazine, issue 96, is pretty much bang on for our gravity focused BCC members.
It includes a massive Megavalanche 2009 article with extra mega style race write ups, a big (6 page) Transition Bikes feature,  a Sheffield Mates’ Race write up and tests of a couple of bikes that I know Jim and [...]

Inspired by Karl Kennedy…

About a year ago when we were really struggling to find  a logo that we were happy to represent the club, and appear on the t-shirts, website, membership cards etc, I approached Miles – a friend of my sister -  who I knew was studying Graphic Design (and had done work experience with Howies) to [...]

Frome “..the Whistler of England..”

Frome “..the Whistler of England..”

Coined the Whistler of England by our very own Mr Smith (see above) Frome, pronounced /ˈfruːm/, is a medium sized Somerset market town that boasts more than most:
Release your bike back into its natural habitat.
You, of course, should follow its lead.
Imagine a place where you can give it your all and the riding options are endless. [...]
