You may know it as the club car park, if so you you’ve probably wondered why all that wood was stacked so imaginatively. Well that’s because it’s actually a natural trials area (see 1:52 on the video) ! Ok, not really but you can’t blame them for making it into one. Watch these two making it all look far too easy…

Fund Raising – help needed this weekend!!!
Hello
We’ve agreed to help set up and pack away for this years Elizabethan Evening in Corsley at the weekend (12th and 13th June), and we need all the help we can get!
We did the same last year and were kindly rewarded with a donation of £500 (which paid towards the Ride Leader Training)!!!
All you need to do is give a few hours to help put out chairs, benches and tables on Saturday – then put them away again on the Sunday.
Each day will start at 10:00am and finish around midday (we were given bacon baps last time!)
please please please put your name down bellow if you can make either, we will need all the help we can get!
Full event details here: http://www.bath360.co.uk/whats-on/elizabethan-evening-goes-victorian (it’s a great event!)
We are currently fund raising to buy a brand new (4.5mtr x 4.5mtr) event shelter for use at races, dig days, TickerTapes, dinner ’til dusk and all other club events. We will also be commissioning a feasibility study and overview plan of MTB trail development at Longleat soon so are fund raising towards this Also. This is something that will really help us move the development of XC, Skills Area and DH trails forward…
So who can help?
Please check out the Forum here or leave a comment below…
Thanks!

Two Seconds
On Saturday Mark, Peter, Simon and I (aided by our ‘Pit Boss’ Juliet) took part in the Bristol Bike Fest – a 12 hour enduro. The day was hot, the course fast and our minds full of the expectation and pressure of Simon’s podium dream.
At 9am as Pete set off on our first lap it started a two hour loop of ride, lie down, drink, eat, toilet that repeated it’s self throughout the day.
At 20:35 the pattern changed. We’d all done six laps. We were all tired. Mark’s bike was broken. The realities of 11 hours of pounding the track caught up with us, 24 laps was to be our total. But then a hero came along.
Simon charged off, knowing he had to improve his fastest lap time by over 90 seconds to get back in time for his lap to count to our total. “Fly Big Bird, Fly!” we screamed. Onwards he battled, air escaping from his tyres as he slammed his bike into the dusty corners. Meanwhile back at the finish the crowd gathered, all wondering whether he would make it back.
With 90 seconds left we thought he’d failed
With 60 seconds to go he charged into sight, stamping on the pedals.
With 20 seconds left he rounded the corner into sight of the finish.
With the crowd roaring him on, Simon crossed the line two seconds after the end of the race.
Despite being stuck on 24 laps we all still felt elated by the beans that we’d all put in and how close Simon had come to sneaking the 25th lap with his storming run.
We’ll be back in 2011. -
"10 to 15 more lads…"
Today was as hot as a dig day ever was,
the midges were militant and the flies were pretty aggressive too.
We raked and raked and raked then did a bit of digging.
Just a bit.
Not much.
Well… about 10 to 15 barrows (x 5)
We built a sweet little berm using nothing but soil (and sweat), rode it a bit then went home.
Beans. The next round of the 2010 BCC TickerTape DH Series* is on BBMS and thanks to all the recent hard work we’ll be using the brand new bottom section for the first time!
(it’s fast, off-camber and super flowy)
* well, it makes it sound “Pro”…

DH Dig Day – Sat 5th June
Its Dig Day this Saturday and there’s plenty to do!
We’ll be aiming to continue work on the new bottom section of BBMS which will include; bench cutting the new line, building a catch berm, building up a drop and then continuing to clear the trail to the very bottom.
Hopfully plenty can make it out, it should be great weather and would be ace to be able to open this new line by the end of the day. Oh, you might need insect repellent though but dont worry if you haven’t got any – we’ll be selling it on the day!
See you there… (starts at 10:00am and finishes at 16:00, any help during this time is greatly appreciated)…

set2rise 2010 – a video edit
You’ll need to make a cup of tea first…
-
We're set2rise….are you?
This weekend is going to be ace… lots of bikes, lots of singletrack, and lots of time to eat mule bars and listen to dodgy techno-trance music.
set 2 rise is a firm club fixture and with 4 BCC teams this year (and some splinter cells) we hope to do more than make up the numbers (actually that’s prob what we’ll do best).
Come over and say hello if you see us, we’ll be the ones with the fire pit and plenty of vans – we’re working on our team kit (it’s nearly done) but for now we identify ourselves with flames and commercial vehicles .
See you there!

beat the midges
Everyone knows that hot weather, humidity and forests = midges!
So, what better way is there to enjoy an itch-free ride / tickertape / dig day at the allotment than to slap on a bit of the worlds greatest midge repellent…?
That’s right, AVON SKIN SO SOFT is the mutts nuts and the only thing you’ll see anyone using up in Scotland – not just because they’re too tight to buy the real stuff, but because it really is the best!
So don’t delay buy some today (!) from our online shop.
