*Discounts only available in store with a valid BCC membership card.
So here it is…..a sneak peek at our jersey final design concept…(woooooo!)…click on the bottom image to see it in full size.
Over the past 12 months a whole bunch of ideas have been morphed into this concept which has been passed onto thecyclejersey.com (our chosen jeresy manufacturer) to see if it can be made into something real. thecyclejersey.com make jerseys for all sorts of organisations from charity events to UCI DH & 4X World Cup Teams so you can be sure that they’ll be great quality and up to the job.
The BCC jersey will be available in either Freeride/DH cut (both long sleeve and short sleeve) and in XC cut (both long sleeve and short sleeve) in any of the 5 colours shown below*.
The design is currently being converted into a real life garment so there may be a few minor changes where the panels line up and seams cause a problem for the pattern, but nothing major. The design uses the BCC logo and the contour lines from the Allotment to make a jersey that looks great and means something too! None of this would have been possible without the tireless work that Rachael Campbell-Smith has put into the design, turning doodles and vague suggestion into something that people would actually like to wear.
Unfortunately due to the heavy snow in Scotland thecyclejersey.com employees haven’t been able to get to work for a while, which means that we won’t be able to take actual orders before Christmas (booooo!). HOWEVER if you were hoping to find a BCC jersey under the tree on Christmas morning never fear… A BCC jersey gift voucher is now available from the BCC shop, and while in the shop, why not pick up a BCC calendar too so that you have something to unwrap!
At just £35 a Jersey we’re hoping that all our members can justify getting at least one to wear when out on the trails…
*We hope to be able to offer the jerseys in 5 colour options but this hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Today was ace, the weather was stunning and the trails were sweet. Orange and Trek did the business bringing a fleet of 2011 bikes for us all to play with whilst Richard cooked up some sausages for everyone to eat. We opened the Dinner ’til Dusk descent especially and it seemed to go down a treat; loamy, flowy and loads of fun.
A great day riding other people’s bikes in our back garden.
After much discussion over a nice cold drink, we’ve decided we’ll travel to Brechfa to try our riding skills out on another of Welsh riding centres.
It will mean another of Pete’s early Sunday 7am departure’s, as it is another 2.5hr drive.
The Drop Off Cafe Double Decker Diner says it’s on site at weekends, however we should take food and drink for the day just in case it’s not.
As always you will need a good quality, well maintained bike with plenty of brake pad material, a helmet and suitable clothing and spares i.e. – spare tubes, power links etc. There
is no bike shop on site.
We will car pool as much as possible to keep costs down, can anyone who can drive and take bikes and passengers please let us know.
We plan on riding the following Red Graded Trail –
Named after the river Gorlech, what this trail delivers in views and scenery it certainly backs up with terrain and excitement.
Taking design and construction to new levels, the trail is a hard, fast, all weather surface which becomes more and more exciting as your skill level and speed progresses.
Soon you’ll be railing the perfectly sculpted berms and huge switchbacks, jumping the step up jumps and tabletops and grinning all the way to the bottom of the exhilarating final descent.
Calling a trail as a roller coaster ride is a knackered old cliché, but there’s no other way to describe the unique Gorlech ride. Every climb drops you into a madder, faster descent on the far side. The stone clad berms, kickers, tables and stump jumps just keep getting bigger and bigger every time in a mad mountain bike crescendo right up to the end. A truly unique skill and grin building experience!”
More info to follow as the time gets closer, any questions please ask…. oh and here’s a short video to get you in the mood…
“The Guys and Girls at Black Canon Collective [THATS US!] have kindly allowed us to use their trails for the day and have marked out a DH course and XC route for all to use.
All you need to do is bring along proof of identification and a credit card, we are running the event on a first come first serve basis, so the sooner you arrive the more bikes you can ride.
Adam from Orange and Jez from Trek will be on hand to fit the bikes and ask questions, plus we will be serving hot food and drinks to keep you warm.”
Well if you think last weeks ride was cold, you should have come out for the 2ndfreezing night ride of the winter. We’re always recruiting new riders who want to join the Tuesday night party, so com’on out, don’t let Mr Winter keep you in the house, we’ve even got lights you can use!
Once we got going we soon forgot that it was cold as Mr Sheppard (a real person, unlike Mr Winter) led us around the nice dry hard packed trails. It reminded us of the summer riding, well, except for the ice & snow. We headed over to the ‘Darkside’ to hit the recently found single tracks, did our couple of hours and headed back to the pub for a beverage of choice sat next to a nice warm fire. Perfect.
Eleven of us set off from the Horse and Groom last night, it was proper cold with a clear sky and a bright full moon.
Within a mile from the pub Paul had a mech through spokes incident and he and Adrian were heading for an early pint.
Nine of us continued, the trails were sticky in places but on the whole good for November. We rode a trail the far side of Centre Parcs that we found quite recently and we’ve called ‘Vancouver’ (Al’s fault)
After crossing the ford on our way home to the H&G we noticed the grass was white with frost, a taster of what’s to come but it does feel nice when you’re toasty warm from your exercise and yet it’s freezing.
We had our pints in front of the open fire while discussing the Ceilidh and where to ride Sunday.
If you’d like to try a night ride please contact us we can even loan lights 🙂
