  • Dig Day – Sunday 11-3

Happy new year to you all!

So, what better way is there to start the year than to come along to the Dig Day from 11:00 until 15:00 tomorrow (Ok, you could always take part in the SPAM Winter Challenge , which will be ace as always… but, well… OK, back to this…)?

The aim of the Dig Day will be to erect the new notice board, tidy the trails up and to look at improving the sharp right hander before the rock garden on Spoons. There will also be some work on MCC (the XC descent) with Ian in preparation for the next Diner ’til Dusk event and the final of the TickerTape Winter Series.

    So, see you tomorrow!

  • Dig Day Tomorrow – Cancelled!

THIS HAS NOW BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO FROZEN GROUND CONDITIONS

THE DEMO DAY ON SUNDAY WILL STILL GO AHEAD.

  • mmmmm doughnuts

Thanks to everyone who made it to the Dig Day today, collectively we managed to rake every inch of every trail exposing every root and letting the air get to the ground so that it can dry a little in the wind.
Oh, and we ate some of doughnuts, jam doughnuts that were baked this morning.

  • the subtle nuances of urban recycling

Well despite the forecast the weather was fine, in fact it was a wonderful day to be at the allotment. For those who chose indoor in favour of outdoor – well, you missed out. Plenty got done and we had a good time doing. We now have a great new race line on spoons with a nice little rock garden. I say *little* because compared to those found on rockier slopes it’s not much of a feature – BUT given our loamy location you’d be encouraged to focus upon the sheer determination required to locate and assemble such a collection of rocks. Sure it all looks a little muddy right now, but one shower and every stone will shine through.
The corners before will offer some flat out drifty lushness and will develop as they get ridden over the next few months. Nothing completely new, just subtle tweaks to make it all knit together with flow.
As for the rest of the allotment; we sorted every bit of drainage de-clogging old and cutting new to keep the trails running sweet come rain or shine.
Thanks to those that came and did, hope to see some more of you next time….

  • DIG DAY THIS SUNDAY

We’ve got a rock garden to build and we’re gonna need all the help we can get!

Bring food, drink and a neanderthal like obsession for stones.

    10-4 down the Allotment.

  • Dig Day Done

    Saturday’s Dig Day was quality.
Loads of people turned up to help and as a result we got everything done with plenty of time left to ride.
We built a new top section for puppets, repaired and extended the top berms on 143, repaired ‘weeeboing’ and raked every inch of every trail leaving them looking amazing and helping those lovely roots come through.
Next dig day we’ll be building an extended and stepped rock garden at the top of spoons ready for the TickerTape triple crown in october – so please come along and help out as it’ll be a mammoth task but be awesome once done.
    Cheers!

  • Dig Day This Saturday!

    Black Canon Collective Dig Day

It’s dig day this saturday and there’s plenty to do…

Come along and lend a hand, meet some more members and eat some doughnuts.

    10:00 – 16:00 (ish) @ the Allotment

  • August Dig Day – Job Done.

Thanks to Jamie, Ian, Ben, Gordon, Mark, Charles and Liam for working so hard today. We’ve got some great things planned for the trails at the Allotment so please get involved if you want to see things progress. .. as awesome as it would be; there’s no such thing as trail fairies – just people with tools, doughnuts and plenty of elbow grease.

  • "10 to 15 more lads…"

Today was as hot as a dig day ever was,
the midges were militant and the flies were pretty aggressive too.
We raked and raked and raked then did a bit of digging.
    Just a bit.
    Not much.
    Well… about 10 to 15 barrows (x 5)
We built a sweet little berm using nothing but soil (and sweat), rode it a bit then went home.
    Beans.

The next round of the 2010 BCC TickerTape DH Series* is on BBMS and thanks to all the recent hard work we’ll be using the brand new bottom section for the first time!

(it’s fast, off-camber and super flowy)

    * well, it makes it sound “Pro”…

  • DH Dig Day – Sat 5th June

Its Dig Day this Saturday and there’s plenty to do!

We’ll be aiming to continue work on the new bottom section of BBMS which will include; bench cutting the new line, building a catch berm, building up a drop and then continuing to clear the trail to the very bottom.

Hopfully plenty can make it out, it should be great weather and would be ace to be able to open this new line by the end of the day. Oh, you might need insect repellent though but dont worry if you haven’t got any – we’ll be selling it on the day!

See you there… (starts at 10:00am and finishes at 16:00, any help during this time is greatly appreciated)…
